Photography is our passion. Hope is our favorite word. Hebrews 10:23 is one of our favorite Bible verses. That's how we have arrived at the title of our long awaited blog, 10.23 Photography! We wanted to be able to share with you not only our photos, but the precious memories that we love to capture. So... enjoy!

a wedding.

It's been a while.  This blog has been abandoned for over a year, and while that doesn't mean we've stopped shooting, it does mean that life has taken us on some wild adventures.  We wouldn't trade those adventures for anything.

We may have some catching up to do--and we'll get there--but for now we'll start with our most exciting event of the fall...the Boerman wedding.

We could've shared hundreds of snapshots from this beautiful day.  Congratulations Josh and Anne--thanks for inviting us into your special day!

Effortless

I'm amazed at how some people have an incredibly effortless beauty.  Katie is one of these people.  As image after image crossed my computer screen, I found myself extremely overwhelmed at the idea of choosing a set of images to edit...but those shoots are my favorite.

See for yourself why...

surprises.

I love everything about a good surprise.  The flutter that happens in my heart when a surprise is revealed and an expression of pure joy and gratitude  flashes across the recipient's face makes my heart so happy.

This last week has been full of photoshoot surprises.  A family of three surprising their parents with pictures in honor of 25 years of marriage.  Two pairs of siblings sneaking out with me on adventures to surprise their parents at the end of a fun filled summer of nannying adventures.  A couple families coming together to surprise their grandparents with pictures that cannot yet be revealed.

I'd say my heart is pretty happy right about now.

In first grade I threw wood chips at her window to get her to come outside to play.  If I wasn't at home, I was clearly at Katie's to play.

Let me introduce you to my childhood best friend...now an contagiously fun college bound beauty...

The Larson Three

Between mouthfuls of fruit snacks and demonstrations of super hero powers was some sibling love and sweet innocence.  A day off of classes was instantly made even more spectacular by spending a morning with these adorable three downtown.  I learned a lot about batman AND got invited to the park...two things that don't happen very often in college.  Shoots are so much more fun when they involve spunky sweet kiddos who do everything they can to teach the photographer a lesson or two.

It's incredible how stinkin' cute they are just being themselves...

Annie

Coming home from school for a newborn shoot is one of the best ways to spend a morning.  Who doesn't want to snuggle with a sweet smelling, silky skinned, precious tiny girl?

Meet Annie.

I love the moments in between "poses"...if we must call them that...the moments when the baby starts crying or gets fussy and the momma has to step in a cuddle her sweet baby girl...real life.

And the shoot wouldn't be complete without yet another very real moment...a classic forced sibling picture I couldn't help but share with you.  This is one of those pictures Eli will see in ten years and laugh at hysterically.

Bring on the Pink

With a little bit more sass and spunk in her personality than the first time we took her pictures a year ago, Claire rocked the pink once again.  When she wasn't ripping the flower out of her hair, she was all smiles and full of squeaky hellos.  Happy first birthday to the beautiful Claire Grace!

Josh and Christie

On a crisp fall day with the sun on its way down, there's not much that could have topped the couple minutes I spent with these two.

Kreykes

Being away at school means that we don't always get to see our favorite families/clients very often. Coming home to this posse of heart breakers was quite the treat.  The Kreykes family was one of our first clients, and their end of the year shoot is always one of our favorites.

This is usually how it goes:  they pick the most arctic day of the year, show up, spit out their gum, get the shivers out, and show us how beautiful and precious they are in about 15 to 20 minutes before running back to the car to get the feeling back in their fingers.  This year...tradition has been altered.  The day was beautiful. No blue gum was spotted in between teeth.  Laughter was abundant.  The Kreykes family was as beautiful as ever [although we can't share too much with you because Christmas card season is officially upon us].

The second part of this incredible day was a 9 month shoot for the youngest Kreykes, Claire.  As precious as she was when we took her newborn pictures, she stole our hearts even more this time..

We never intentionally enhance people's eyes...for people like this when the natural intensity is enough to take your breath away...
